The President's Message |
|
By Alan Resnick |
After a long arduous campaign I thank you all for electing me President. I will work hard to keep all my campaign promises. First of which was to get Don Hathaway up on to the clubhouse roof with some additional sheet metal to fix our roof leaks. Ours thanks to Don for all his efforts. There are some photos on the web site under NEWS. There have also been some electrical repairs completed thanks to Charlie Almond and his whiz bang electronic gizmos. Charlie was able to save us many hours of digging to find the problems. I even saw Vernon with a shovel in his hand. Thanks to the work crew, Scott and Howard, the big well got a new check valve to put it back in service. They show great promise with shovels also.

On Saturday the 11th of January Scott Garrett arranged to have Jay Curtis tow a banner over the field. Interesting in itself, but a true delight for Janis, Scott's girlfriend. At the appropriate moment Scott got Janis out onto the field. It was cold and the ladies with subterfuge were arranging a little hamburger lunch in the clubhouse. Jay did a great job on the fly-by [observing all appropriate safety regulations] and Janis was wonderfully surprised. The message on the banner read “Janis, will you marry me?” Janis did say “yes” to Scott’s joy and relief. Later, as Janis flew off with Jay for some fun flying, Jay commented, “Well, actually, I was the one who proposed!” All the best to Scott and Janis!

Later the same day, we were all entertained by Tim Setter’s new remote
control plane. He demonstrated loops, spins and all the expected great
flying from him. The intriguing factor was that his “plane” is made
from a flat cardboard sign advertising some sort of watersports shop. I
wonder if they will pay him for the advertising. I’m sure that Tim could
make almost anything fly!

I believe we have all had enough of the cold weather and are looking forward to a great fly season. Alan Resnick |
