Well let's start with the
good news.., Krystal and Bob now have an "EXPLORER" and
it's been seen in the air already. Scott Garrett and Howard Webb have
finished rebuilding their Bus XA's and they are also back in the air.
Interesting colors Howard! I am still in the process of putting my Buc II
back together with SeaRey straight gear legs and Fred Griffith has started
taking the insides apart to do some structural maintenance on his Mallard

On Saturday the 17th, a
strong storm came through the field with heavy rain, hail, and very strong
winds. As a result the roofs on hangers #1 and #2 were sheared off. The
wood and metal was picked up and tossed over to the next row of hangers to
the south. After the storm passed and the river that was coming down
Homestead Rd. subsided Rex, who weathered the storm in his car, let me
know what had happened. Shirley and I were in our trailer and Cindy was in
hers. It was bad. but didn't seem that extreme. Rex made it clear that I
had to come over and see this! Well,
most of Cindy’s hanger roof was gone along with half of Rick Bowles'
roof. Iwould like to thank Rex for using his car to tow the twisted
roofing out of the way. The next morning Fred Griffith found and up
righted the Port-O-Lets. Billy Owens and Rick Bowles have gotten a list of
repair materials together and there will be a hanger raising over the
Memorial Day weekend.

The storm is a reminder to
everyone that they need to make sure that their plane is properly secured
in their hanger and that the front hanger legs are down and secured. |
Let's all fly safe and be secure
afterwards |
5/29/03 P.S.
This is a late addition. The
“hanger raising” went well over the holiday weekend. Thanks to Billy
Owens, Rick Bowles and his helper. Charlie Almond, Charles Cantrill,
Vernon Peckham, myself and all the well-wishers and directors framing was
mostly finished on Saturday and the roofing went on Sunday. Then Rick
spent extra time later baking on the roof setting screws. |
A hearty thanks and well
done to all from Cindy
