The President's Message |

Summer has arrived and with the hot weather and thunderstorms we need to constantly remember the hanger support legs need to be DOWN and SECURED. I believe the last of the hanger roofs damaged by last years hurricanes will be repaired this month. Fred Griffith is still on vacation so Roland Alexander has kindly picked up most of workload. I think Denis Day and Jack Lafferty have also been pitching in. We owe a great THANK YOU to all for the much needed and appreciated help keeping the field in such good shape. Jack Lafferty has brought his new Searay to the field, after a “few” months building its time to take to the air. Great job Jack! You might have noticed the housing development at the southeast end of Libby #3. The development is an over 55 community. This helps ease our concerns about young hands in the area. The Board of Directors is working with the Investment Group looking at options and monitoring the developments in the area. We are aware of the potential development of the property to our south. The city of Groveland is annexing it. During the July 9th meeting Roland assured the members that the investment group is committed to preserving the field as a place for us to FLY from. Speaking of FLYING there is some of that going on! I just read an article that Eastlake Fish Camp has been sold to developers. We need to review our restaurant list. Anyone finding a restaurant on a runway or water with a beach [a short walk is OK] please let me know. Gps coordinates are appreciated for those who are navigationally challenged! |
