The President's Message

By Alan Resnick

To follow up on my November 2005 report to the membership about the current status of the field and the Flying club, I can only provide a general outline. I believe everyone is aware by now that the Club will eventually have to move to a new location. The Investment Group is very actively searching for property that will serve as the new Gator Field. There is a purchase contract on the current property but I believe we have about 18 months before their will be a closing.

At the February meeting we discussed the future of the club. The discussion was mostly positive and forward-looking.

The March meeting will be held on the 11th. This is to accommodate me, as I’ll be unavailable on the 4th. At the March meeting I need to hear from the membership as to who is willing to relocate their planes. The fun part of this is we do not have a new location yet, we don’t know what type of hangers will be available or what it will cost. As to cost, the current search by the Investment group has covered a lot of different properties. Some open land and some licensed airports, i.e. Klinger and Seminole; there is current discussion about a private licensed field west of Debary. That field is just inside the 30-mile ring around Orlando. Our operating costs have always been lower than average and I am sure that even in a new location our costs can be held well below the market cost for hanger rents.

I appreciate that this does not provide you with much exact detail, but  I need to hear from you whether you can make the March meeting or not.

You can contact me at 407-493-8597, e-mail me direct at alresnick@earthlink.net ,

fax 407-672-2153 or if you want, write to 3795 Lake Mirage Blvd., Orlando, Fl. 32817.

I am very pleased with the spirit to carry on that the membership showed at the last meeting. The members have decided to have a “Spring Social” Fly-in on May 6th.     Events start 9:00am Gator Time!

Please remember - 1-800-WX BRIEF

Fly safe!
