The Fall Fly-in Will be on October 25th. So mark your social calendars! Dennis Day will fry whatever fish you’ve caught and bring! We will have some flying events and some nice lunch. We aren’t doing the evening banquet this time. For those of you who weren’t able to attend this months meeting, Allan Sherrod, Council Member, City of Groveland, stopped by the clubhouse to see and talk with us. Allen is a pilot and avid supporter of aviation interests in Groveland and the surrounding area. Gator Field was annexed into Groveland about a year ago. The City of Groveland should be much more receptive to a permanent zoning for the field than Lake County would ever have been. Allen also mentioned that there will be some business involving use changes in our area brought to the City at it’s meeting Monday Sept. 15th. It will be a good idea to have people there who represent our interests. If you can attend it would be a good idea. 7: oo pm Monday the 15th at Groveland City hall. 156 S. Lake Ave, Groveland, Fl. 34736. Allen was not aware of what changes we being requested. He did mention that some of our neighbors had told the City that our airpark had shut down. In reference to Gator Field, we are not going anywhere for a “long” time. I’ll have more details soon. We currently have 21 planes on the field. 31 hangers are available for rent. The back hangers 32 thru 37 are not being occupied until we get new roof metal on them. That’s another project we are working on. Hanger rent is still $ 70.00 per month. Thanks to Howard Webb we were able to get the runway fertilized for a discounted price of $ 400.00. It has been a few years and it really needed it. Thanks have to go to Dennis Day , Roland Alexander and Fred Griffith for keeping the newly fertilized grass cut. VOLUNTEERS are ALWAYS welcome. Speaking of cutting, one of the Honda engines on the outrigger decks has seized. We will get a replacement engine ASAP. We need a roller for the field. If anyone has any ideas let me know! OCTOBER’s meeting is the 4th. Fly-in the 25th. Bring stuff! P.S. 9/16/09 John Gruener, Roland Alexander, Cindy Butler and I met with the City of Groveland’s planning Council, to discuss zoning. We got a positive reception. More as it happens. Lawn mower engine oil should be changed every 20 hours! Have you checked your TFR’s ? Alan Resnick, Pres. 407-493-8597 |
