I am happy to say we had a fun RC Fly-in this past Saturday with a great turnout. With the club providing the burgers and hot dogs and those attending bringing an assortment of dishes, there was plenty to go around a couple of times. The RC flyers did really well without any major incidents. We even had 8 electric Strikers up at one time entertaining the crowd by doing what they do so well! Donations at the Fly-in and the 50/50 raffle brought in a total of $282.00. With expenses of $174.00, the club actually made $108.00. It is a really fun way to make some money. On the business side, our thanks to Dennis Day for his hard work on the tractors. The old Massey should be up and running again next week for mowing. It has an issue with rust in the fuel tank. The Ford is another story: after going through the fuel injectors and pump and doing a valve job, it is still not running. It has been decided to overhaul the bottom end/clutch and get new tires on it rather than try to by another used tractor. At least we will know what we have. The RUNWAY is coming along nicely. It is filling in and has been mowed a couple of times (thanks Fred and Dennis). We are possibly looking at SEPTEMBER to open it up. Our next project is the roof for the back hangers. This project needs to be done soon, as the tin that is off is exposing the wood to the weather. Hopefully as soon as the weather turns cooler, we can start. Donation can be mailed to: Fl. Flying Gators 3795 Lake Mirage Blvd. Orlando, Fl. 32817 Remember, the diagonal runway is available, use caution on the runway! Alan Resnick, Pres. 407-493-8597 |
