January 2003
I am beginning to wonder if there is a Santa Claus. Last year I
asked for a BMW Z and/or a date with Brittany, got neither, so started
chasing woman again, then could not remember what I was chasing 'em for,
so gave that up. I left the cookies and a Bloody Mary, couldn’t remember
his drink, which should have given The Old Expellation of Wind a gentle
reminder to be nice and leave the winning lotto ticket I asked for, so
still looking forward to the Social Security check. Anyhow! Happy
New Year to you all. May it
be the best you have ever had, in every way.
2003 December it will be the Hundredth Anniversary of Flight by the
Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. I had hoped to read of a
lot going on to celebrate, but, no! At
Sun 'n Fun we are looking for old Ultralights to display and maybe fly.
Wouldn’t that be something.
I have asked my ole mate, Jerry Rooks, to help me in this venture,
and Rex with our web site. Boy, he is doing a wonderful job!
It’s a great website! Thank
you, Rex. There
are a lot of old Ultralights still ready to fly but finding them may be
difficult. I hope not. Kerry
Richter's designs of the Cobra and Hi-Nuski from the old Advanced Aviation
days. Of course, we have John
Moody and his planes and there is a Goldwing at Blackwater.
On our field there is a 1981 Hummingbird and Cobra, A Model 1983.
I hope the FAA will let John perform this year. Any help will be
much thought off and or ideas, in making this an interesting year at
Paradise City my last. Not a
lot of flying going on at the field with the cooler weather, but odd jobs
are getting done. Don
Hathaway has gotten on with the clubhouse water leak on the roof and has
found the trouble. Man, this
man has talent I envy. On the leak by the Gator sign he bent tin that was
a delight to all who saw it and made a first class job of it.
There will be no more water coming down from there. We shall need a
few bucks to buy the tin for the roof so any donations will be very
welcome. The
rumor about a new tower at Sun 'n Fun is a reality and Dave Piper is
working on it so it will have air conditioning.
That’s Dave’s line of business. Krystal
has been seen down at Sebring flying from the front and back of a A20
Vista from the Ukraine Rotax 503 and I believe impressed by it. Sport
pilot and it's legal. Kyrstal is in The Windy City for Christmas with
Florida Flying Gator Life member Dad who is doing fair with his poor
health. We all wish him well. The
soda machine Bob Touchette donated is now working, thanks to Rex, and
being outside the rear of the clubhouse we should not be getting it stolen
anymore. Destiny
Powered Parachutes went broke and now has been taken over by Alliance
engineering the same address, in Three Rivers Michigan. They call the new
Powered Parachute The Vision. Thank you, Charles, for doing a good job as President. I know only too well why you do not want another term. It has been a great learning experience. Everybody should take a turn. “Well done,” Alan for standing again. To all the officers, "Thanks."
