We have a lot to look forward too as Flying people. THE RULE is in, well the foundation is, and a lot of organizing by the FAA has to be done, and by jove they are trying, some will say very trying.

Some advice if you are applying for Sport Pilot and they need your flying hours, they will return rounded up hours, they accept only tenths and minutes, if you flew twelve don’t put fifteen, or an hour.

January will see the first few DAR’s and DPE’s about eight of them IF they all pass at Sebring.

With sixteen thousand pilots waiting to be tested and get their ship N numbered, log on to ASC .org. Jim has a way of shifting things on if they let him, at least he has his #@*+ in order, and it could be a great help.

Things are not going as we had planned though, for it seems that by the latest bush telegraph, the FAA have obstructionists doing a pretty good job of holding things up.

So how about something different to look forward too, those that have an Ultralight make sure its legal and fly the heck out of them, bring the fun back, if you don’t have a ship buy one at the reasonable prices, they are about, mainly change the illegal tank and go fly, I doubt that these over zealous inspectors will travel everywhere with the scales, and the first one that does will brake an unwritten law that the FAA promised, not to brake faith and the trust with the part 103 flyers. You can still get a good ship for well under ten grand in pristine condition. Ok you have to stop for gas on a cross country, Right, when did you do your last cross country and you used all your gas. The sad thing about this is after three years you won’t be able to find anyone to teach you to fly a 103. Flying costs will be out of sight in these new fangled Sport Pilots planes and my view is you might just as well get a GA pilots license anyway.

Being an older guy and one of the bad things is we have difficulty with accepting change,  . (When I was a boy we did! ) Yeah right. You could buy a lot for a dollar too!
