January 2009

Well a happy New Year to you all. I bet you all thought the old bugger was dead, Well No, I am bit of a wreck, sure, but like the Scottish Whisky, Johnny Walker, I keep on going.

Yes I lost a bit of interest, but all has been renewed, by my Pride and Joy, son Charles, he has bought a Titan Tornado 912 S. And boy it flies like, stuff of a shovel, smooth and fast, and that boy can fly it with ease. I had a trip before our Fly In that was in October and was impressed.

I had been up in one, but that was a long long time ago.

So to start the New Year right, my daughter In Law, Bless her, stood down and was offered a ride with our President, To the Black Waters Creek 2009 Fly In, enabling me to fly with Charles. Did I ever enjoy my day

It was a Beautiful day, and lined up at the Gator Field was a whole host of Trikes, lead by Felix Perez and Buddy Babcock, Dennis in his S X, Rhett in his Drangonfly .Allen and Charles. Mark and his Son turned up in his newly acquired Skyhawk 172. The Stearman Flew in from Grass Roots airfield

The Flight over was very smooth and took about forty minutes, Charles was “Mother Henning”, our President Allen Resnick, in his Buccaneer Two Mallard, well he’d  got some precious cargo on board, otherwise,  we would have been there in twenty five minutes.

Typical Gators, turned up just as the food was being served and what a meal for five bucks, so good they ran out of food, and the organizer for the competitions arrived so late he didn’t get anything to eat and by that time nobody wanted to play games, so nothing happened, and we all flew home.

What a good start to the New Year. I would like to see all the planes at the Gator Field flying ITS beginning to look like the old days.

There is another Fly In at South Lakeland on the thirty First of this month  The Sebring show The Fifth year is on January 22- 25th.   Sun and Fun, this year is April 21st—26th the thirty fifth Annual Show. My hope is Charles will fly me in this time  I can hear Mike McCellan..ITS A BIRD.   IT’S A PLANE  IT’S THE OLD BUGGER HIMSELF. You know that Guy with the BBC Voice, remember him.

On a sad note to finish,  Americas First Seal, died just recently he flew PPC’s amongst other aircraft and lived in Florida. Lastly a Very happy thought   And I had dinner with my great friend and FLORIDA FLYING GATOR.  JEFF MONTGOMERY who celebrated being  NINETY ONE YEARS OLD in DECEMBER..
