A big Thank you to the club for making me a Life Member, I appreciate the honor it is very humbling.

The club has an honored guest coming to speak at the next meeting, an old friend of mine, and the Ultralight Community.

Bill Cook, who has now retired from the F.A.A. where he was responsible for the F.A R. rule 103. He has been and still is, a friend to the ultralight pilots, apart from his FAA career he has lived a Macho life starting with crop spraying in Argentina, he was a culvert pilot for Air America, Barnstormer and much more. He thinks he is Gods Gift to women; here I have news for him! He’s Not!   I am?

So I urge all members to turn up and listen to his talk you will enjoy it.

Bill lives where he drives his home with companion dog in a RV, and he has a passion for golf the combination is a great for a well earn’t retirement

The Fly In at South Lakeland was a wash out because of the weather, only three Trikes flew in from Manatee, plus a few GA, including two Chinese Nojo”s that look like the Yaks, they have one hangered there, and the three did a fly by, two Thorps, an old Stagger-wing, several Cessna’s.

Quite a good crowd listened to an interesting Talk from Jim Stephenson, foremost speaker on Sport pilot and Roscoe Morton Announcer, he has a history and interesting life that I was not aware of. Chairman for the announcers tower at Sun & Fun. G.A side, and only missed one out of all the years.

The EAA Chapter 49 presented, a “well deserved”! Trophy it was for appreciation of all his work, to dear friend Jerry Rooks. The presentation was by Terri Kurtz hostess of the fly in.

Sun and Fun will soon be here, I have a feeling its going to be a bit different, I certainly would not fly there unless I knew I was a 100% legal, not that the FAA will be any different then they always are, they have a job to do and with the soon maybe different rules, plus I feel Burton and Harbrough want control or the demise of Paradise City according to Dale Faux, and he said I could quote him Harbough when he took the job said we must get rid of these Ultralights. It might not be the same. 

It has always been difficult for me, never to be recognized by the powers that organize Sun & Fun, it fact after all these years for the most part nobody over their side even know I exist, certainly Burton has never said hello, or Harbrough either so I looked up old Gator Banners.

Paradise City, was been run by The Florida Ultralight Ass until ninety two, last chairman Bill McClung, who handed it to Dave Piper who has been Chairman ever since.

Florida Flying Gator Del Bell flower was a Chairman who resigned because of a disagreement with the F.U.A.

Paradise City has had control of its self since it start, way back, with the assistance of Billy Henderson, many years a wonderful President who would give advice and help where ever needed.

Paradise City has run a tight ship ALL VOLUNTEERS! and have made fortunes for Sun and Fun. The modern management, or board of directors has, never acknowledged that, Paradise City exists.
